Steel Town Voices

In 1999 Tom Kelly and Steve Thompson launched their musical “Steel Town”. The Musical played the Customs House, South Shields and then travelled to Consett, the town who’s steel works closure in 1980 inspired the story. In 2008 they were joined by photographer Peter Dixon and together they produced a multi media exhibition “Voices”. This compilation of the two works “Steeltown Voices” comes 30 years after the closure of Consett Steel Works made all the more poignant by current events on Teesside.
